WC REOPENS ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC

The 6th February 2020 saw the newly refurbished former Gentlemen’s WC open it’s doors to the public for the first time since 2012.

Following a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant, the building which has sat underneath the Bigg Market since 1898 was fully refurbished before being handed over to a tenant to fit out in October 2019.

During the refurbishment, the property was stripped back to a shell before being fully waterproofed. The grand circular  roof structure was retained with glass and zinc replacing dilapidated poly-carbonate.

The “WC Project” represents a significant milestone in the project and is the 5th building to receive grant support.
